Some new laptops in the Market [HP]

Recently I was searching for laptops for a friend. I found that the market is being flooded by so many laptops that its getting hard to keep track of them. As I was going through the laptops I though  of  reactivating my blog and start posting at least once a week !!

So here I would like to introduce some laptops from HP (my brand for laptops dunno why but I tend to prefer HP I myself have one )
First on the list is
1. HP g4- 1201tu/1201tx
One of the latest models by HP. A very good one in terms of performance and of course cost. Very affordable. This laptop features the latest processor i5 2430 2.4 GHz. 4GB DDR3 RAM. The 1201tu model comes with a 500GB HDD and Intel HD 3000Graphics. But with a couple of thousand more bucks 1201tx comes with 640 GB HDD and AMD Radeon 6470 (1GB DDR3) graphics card a very good mid-range graphics card. While Intel HD graphics is sufficient enough if you plan to see movies and play some old or low graphics games. But if you plan on playing some hi-fi games. Even though the 6470 is a mid range graphics card it can play almost all the current games (don't know about the future games though). The screen size is 14" a bit small for some but also very easy to move around with. Nice mobility that is. The laptop comes with no USB3.0 ports which is a let down for this otherwise awesome piece of hardware.
The full specs is available at the HP site link: http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/in/en/ho/WF25a/321957-321957-3329744-64354-64354-5145700.html

HP G6 -1200 series
Similar to the previous model but with the screen size being a 15.6" . A very affordable laptop with decent graphics and as a nice entry level. With the bigger screen it is a very nice entertainment laptop.
The 1201tu comes with a i3 2430 2.4 GHz processor and a 500GB HDD. It has a Intel HD 3000 graphics which would do great if you intend to watch only movies. Priced at around 32k its a very affordable laptop.

3.HP DV4-3145
A very good gaming laptop by HP with 2.4GHz i5 2430 processor and best part with a AMD Radeon 6750 (1GB DDR5 ) graphics card, a high end one which can play any game till now. Even METRO 2033 can be played in medium level graphics. The speakers are also very good ALTEC lansing Dolby Home Theater speaker system. The only negative to gaming would be the screen size of this laptop a 14" HD LED display but this also means that it is more mobile and handy than the 15.6" screens.link :http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c03015567

Samsung Galaxy 3 specs - Phone Arena

Samsung Galaxy 3 specs - Phone Arena

"The not so smart ANDROID"

Android OS an open source OS which has currently become a frenzy in the world. This OS releases so many versions that before even a phone is able to capture the market, another version of Android is announced. I think there are more versions of this OS than the mobiles. The Android OS is a free and open source OS currently under the Ownership of GOOGLE INC. It is the world's best selling OS for the smartphones. The biggest positive to Android for me is its apps market run by google, though many third party sites also offer many apps. There are currently over 200,000 apps available for the Android. Also worth mentioning is the variety of phones it is available on. According to google there are 3,00,000 Android phones activated on a daily basis. But Android too has its own problems.

  • Gaming: The best thing to do in a smartphone for me. Since this is my best pass time , android is thus not a favourite of mine. For the first thing the Android platform has just started to capture the attention of game developers. This is probably due the non-standardised hardware, game developers find it difficult to make the game run on every phone. Also too many screen resolutions make it tough for the developers. Due to this very reason some apps end up looking weird on some devices.
  • Manufacturer Customisation:  Google allows handset makers to add their customisations over the OS. Almost every manufacturer is doing this. Though this makes the phone look more trendy and fashionable and like a trademark for some companies. But in most cases this affects the performance and battery life also. Softwares tend to crash, memory usage goes up and battery consumption too rises.
  • Poor Task Management: Android phones have never been good at handling apps which open in the background or just have not been closed properly. Lack of in-built task manager created a problem, though which can be easily solved by third party apps. However most users are not aware of this and end up sacrificing performance and battery life.
  • Bad Battery Life: The apps are to blame for this. They have a habit of being bullish when getting online updates.
  • Too many Android Versions: We still Android 1.6 on offer with the latest v2.3. Which phone has which version? Quite a lot to remember when buying a device, right?

Apple announces thinner, faster iPad 2 - The Daily Athenaeum - A&E

Apple announces thinner, faster iPad 2 - The Daily Athenaeum - A&E

Apple announced an updated version of its popular tablet computer iPad Wednesday.

Speculation about the device has been ripe for the last few weeks, with supposedly leaked details and photos showing the new iPad available March 11.

Despite being absent on medical leave, CEO Steve Jobs appeared to unveil the iPad 2.

"We've been working on this product for a while, and I just didn't want to miss today," he said.

The latest version is one third of the size of the original model and is also smaller than the company's iPhone 4, at 8.8 mm thick and 1.3 pounds. It has front and rear-facing cameras.

The iPad 2 is also twice as fast as the existing model and graphics power up to nine times faster. It is available in black and white versions.

Despite the improvements, prices will remain the same as they are now, starting at $499 for a 16GB, Wi-Fi model.

Jobs announced the company had sold 15 million iPads in 2010, more than any other competitor in the tablet market.

"Our competitors are looking at this like it's the next PC market," he said. "That is not the right approach to this. These are post-PC devices that need to be easier to use than a PC, more intuitive."

Jared Crawford, senior computer and electrical engineering major, is the creator of West Virginia University's official app, iWVU.

He compared the upgrade to that of the iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4, with noticeable speed improvements.

Crawford recently sold his first iPad to make way for the new model.

"I'll be getting one around launch day or shortly thereafter," he said.

Crawford said an iPad version of iWVU is in the works, though no launch date is currently scheduled.

As a developer, Crawford was disappointed the company didn't reveal information on its expected update to mobile device operating system iOS.

"The features they announced today, as far as iOS goes, there wasn't much new," he said.

Speculation over what features Apple would announce had increased ahead of Wednesday's launch – including higher-resolution screens.

"I don't think it's possible right now to double (resolution) at a reasonable price," he said. "It wasn't a reasonable expectation."

Crawford particularly liked one feature – a new case for the device.

"It covered up your iPad, and it didn't feel like an Apple product," he said. "This new cover will hopefully make it still feel like an Apple product."

Orders for the new device will be accepted online at www.Apple.com March 11 or in-store at 5 p.m. the same day.
